Young Floridians Making Things Happen! Featured Activist: Abigail Malick

My name is Abigail Malick, and I am the President of VOX UCF: Voices for Planned Parenthood at the University of Central Florida.  UCF is a conservative campus, but our members are some of the most determined and caring people that I have ever come across.  We take pride that we are one of the most active chapters of VOX in Florida.  Currently we are working hard to ensure that VOX UCF has a permanent place and voice in Orlando.

UCF student group VOX: Voices for Planned Parenthood wants to take the financial factor out of fighting cervical cancer.

"College students need information and access to affordable health care services in order to make healthy, lifelong decisions," VOX President Cari Cruz said in a press release. "We are working to ensure that the cost of this vaccine doesn't stand in the way of the responsible young women who want to protect themselves from cancer."

1. Educate your campus about reproductive rights and healthcare.

Vox chapters have a big job to do when countering confusion and anti-choice lies about important topics, such as Emergency Contraception. Vox should be a visible source of information, tabling in common areas around campus, publishing letters and columns in your student newspaper and holding events.
